چکیده

Esophageal atresia with Tracheoesophageal fistula (EA +TEF) is frequently associated with other congenital anomalies. The commonly associated systems are cardiovascular and gastrointestinal, including anorectal malformations. The associated anomalies adversely affect the outcome of the patient. Based on this association Waterson has given a criteria for risk stratification and survival of neonates of EA+TEF [1] (Table 1). There are many case reports of TEF with ARM, but there are no reported cases of TEF with ARM with colonic agenesis.

Anorectal Malformation Associated with Small and Large Bowel Atresias: A Rare Association

Anorectal malformation (ARM) is one of frequent neonatal surgical problem managed in pediatric surgical units. Gastrointestinal malformations are associated in approximately 5% cases of ARM. Some of the common associations are oesophageal atresia and trachea oesophageal fistula, duodenal atresia, hirschsprung`s disease, pouch colon and neuronal intestinal dysplasia [1]. Association of ARM with ...

Peri-operative management of a neonate with tracheo-oesophageal fistula and anorectal malformation: Survival of the fittest

Oesophageal atresia (OA) with tracheo‐oesophageal fistula (TOF) is a rare congenital anomaly usually seen in association with the VACTERL spectrum of disorders in neonates.[1] Management of these groups of anomalies is generally an early surgical intervention in most cases. Majority of neonates are managed with a palliative procedure until fit for a definitive surgery.[2] Isolated case reports ...

Isolated Vaginal Agenesis Associated with Multiple Gastrointestinal Anomalies: A Case Report

More than 50% of infants with esophageal atresia have associated anomalies. We present a case report of a 46XX neonate with long-gap esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula (EA/TEF), anorectal malformation, bowel duplication and vaginal agenesis. This is an unusual association of abnormalities which had not yet described in literature.

Pulmonary agenesis as part of the VACTERL sequence.

Pulmonary agenesis is an uncommon anomaly that has been reported in isolation and in association with other congenital defects. Such defects include oesophageal atresia, cardiac malformation, horseshoe kidney, and anal atresia. Over a period of three years we have seen five neonates or fetuses with unilateral agenesis of the lung. All the cases had three or more anomalies seen in the VACTERL se...

Oesophageal atresia and associated anomalies.

Of 253 infants with oesophageal atresia treated over an eight year period, 122 (48%) had a total of 213 other anomalies. Most commonly affected were the cardiovascular (61 cases, 29%), anorectal (30 cases, 14%), and genitourinary (29 cases, 14%) systems. The VATER (or VACTERL) association was present in 10% of cases, but occurred more often in patients who had oesophageal atresia without an ass...
